Growing up in his family home just outside Montreal, at 17 Matt Holubowski was teaching himself to play the guitar when he stumbled onto the work of Elliott Smith. He would soon be inspired to set a course for a career in music. After finishing university and travelling extensively, he recorded his first ever album in 2014, Old Man. The record contained 14 pieces written and performed entirely by Matt. After earning a spot to compete in the television series La Voix he found himself with a growing fanbase, and released a follow-up record Solitudes last fall.
He visited the Collective Arts Black Box to perform two songs from Solitudes, plus a stunning cover of the Bon Iver classic, “Skinny Love”.
