Indie folk band Mt. Joy took to the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday Night, where they performed their politically-charged tune “Sheep,” in addition to their most recent single, “Jenny Jenkins.”
The performance of “Sheep” was intimate and emotive, as frontman Matt Quinn sings the track they wrote after the 2015 riots in Baltimore, Maryland that took place because Freddie Gray died in police custody. The moody, expansive tune wrestles between the innocence of youth and violence. Mt. Joy’s performance of “Jenny Jenkins” was more stripped back as Quinn belts with raspy, wailing vocals.
