Watch: Nada Surf pays tribute to Ric Ocasek with cover of ‘Just What I Needed’

They performed the cover in Ocasek's hometown

Nada Surf paid tribute to The Cars’ Ric Ocasek over the weekend with a cover of “Just What I Needed.”

Ocasek died in September at age 70 of natural causes, and while performing in Boston at The Sinclair on Saturday night, indie rockers Nada Surf paid tribute to the hometown hero, who actually produced their 1996 debut album. Nada Surf’s cover stays true to the original, as Doug Gillard’s vocals take the lead.
