Watch: Netflix drops a trailer for dystopian series ‘Sweet Tooth’

New show based on Jeff Lemire's limited graphic novel series premieres June 4

Netflix has unveiled a full-length trailer for its adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s Vertigo/DC Comics book, Sweet Tooth. The series focuses on a deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery), who fights to survive in a apocalyptic world devastated by a viral outbreak.

“The Great Crumble,” as the outbreak is referred to in the story, pits hunters against Gus’s hybrid species and various scavengers making their way across the landscape. Check out the trailer below!

Sweet Tooth is a new kind of dystopian story, it’s very lush and hopeful,” writer-director Jim Mickle said in a release. “We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story — we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means, and why it’s important to keep faith in humanity.”

The series also features James Brolin in a narrator’s role, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Aliza Vellani, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, Neil Sandilands, and Will Forte. Sweet Tooth is produced by Robert Downey, Jr. and Susan Downey.

Sweet Tooth premieres on Netflix on June 4.
