A trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has arrived, and it features Lana Del Rey covering Donovan’s “Season of the Witch.”
The song was originally sung by Donovan in 1996, and it is well known that Lana herself has an interest in the occult and black magic. This interest has influenced her aesthetic and the spooky vibes of the trailer are so fitting to her character.
“I have admired Lana’s music for a while now and felt in my gut that she would run with ‘Season of the Witch’ — that she would use her alchemy to transform it,” del Toro explains in a press statement. “She is a great artist and has been an amazing partner with us in this adventure. It is an honor for me to have met her.”
