Peter Hook has collaborated with his son Jack Bates, Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, and drummer Shane Graham for a new rendition of Joy Division’s “Ceremony.”
The live video sees them each recording their parts remotely, as the clips come edited together in black and white with some colourful graphics added in overtop. Hook and his son both play the bass in the performance of the track.
Hook’s new version of “Ceremony” was recorded as part of the Sweet Relief Musician Fund’s online fundraiser “For The Crew,” which raised money in support of touring crews amidst COVID-19.

“Ceremony” was originally written by Joy Division, but it was unreleased before frontman Ian Curtis’ death in 1980, and ended up being repurposed as New Order’s debut single in 1981.
