It seems the platinum selling, Grammy nominated, Sam Smith can do no wrong these days. So with his latest music video release for “Lay Me Down” off his debut studio album, In The Lonely Hour, Smith continued to use his fame to push boundaries.
The video features Smith performing to what seems to be a funeral procession, but quickly turns into a celebratory same-sexed wedding. The controversy? Gay marriage isn’t legal in churches in the UK, the very location of the video. Smith took to his Facebook page and released the following statement:
“This video shows my dreams that one day gay men and women and transgendered men and women all over the world, like all our straight families and friends, will be able to get married under any roof, in any city, in any town, in any village, in any country.”
