Watch: Sleater-Kinney share lyric video for new indie rocker ‘Method’

Sleater-Kinney are set to release their new album, Path of Wellness, this Friday, June 11th via Mom + Pop, and today they’ve shared a lyric video for their new single, “Method.”

The new indie rocker is an intentionally rough, rowdy cut that sees Carrie Brownstein taking lead vocals. With wailing guitar solos and swaggering, mellow vocals, this track is quintessential Brownstein. The accompanying Lance Bangs-directed lyric video is just as gritty as the track, with stylized, mostly black-and-white effects.

On the surface level, Brownstein presents a love song, singing over and over again, “It’s a love song.” As you dive deeper it’s about the struggle to properly communicate affection, with lyrics like, “I’m sorry, I’m singing about love/ And it sounds like hate.
