Watch: The 1975 pay tribute to The Talking Heads’ ‘Stop Making Sense’ with surreal video for ‘It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You)’

The band gets stuck in slow motion, twins appear out of nowhere, and Healy falls through the floor

British indie pop group The 1975 have paid tribute to the Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense with an eerily surreal video for their 80s-style track “It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You),” which is frontman and recovering addict Matty Healy’s love song to heroin.

The Warren Fu-directed video follows Healy as he steps in and out of a film set that resembles Stop Making Sense, Jonathan Demme’s Talking Heads concert film. The meta clip opens with Healy waking up from a dream backstage, heading onto the stage and performing in the role of David Byrne, which makes reality no longer exist as twins appear, the band gets stuck in slow motion, and Healy falls through the floor.
