Watch: The 1975 play ‘The Birthday Party’ live for the first time

'Notes on a Conditional Form' drops April 24th

The 1975 surprised their fans with a performance of their latest track “The Birthday Party” on February 19th at the Bournemouth International Centre in England. This was the first time the band ever played the track live.

Frontman Matty Healy took centre stage with an acoustic to gently sing the somber track as the screen behind the band played clips from the music video for “The Birthday Party.” The live performance was supported by the band members on drums, banjo and guitar, and elevated even further with a smooth sax solo.

“The Birthday Party” is the fourth single released off the band’s upcoming album Notes on a Conditional Form, out April 24th. The track follows the release of “People,” “Frail State of Mind” and “Me & You Together Song.”
