WATCH: The Beths share animated video for ‘I’m Not Getting Excited’

'Jump Rope Gazers' is set for release on July 10

New Zealand’s The Beths have released an animated video for “I’m Not Getting Excited” from their upcoming LP, Jump Rope Gazers. Watch below.

Frontwoman Elizabeth Stokes said the song was written last year, well before the recent pandemic, but the video was made during the first month of lockdown in New Zealand, in the band’s laundry room, with stop-motion animation, by directors Sports Team.

“People always ask ‘are you excited!? The correct answer is always ‘yes.’ But the truth is that deep down there’s a tiny Liz saying, ‘don’t get excited,’” Stokes explains of the track. “She is certain that anything good that could happen will most likely not happen, because of a freak accident. Or because somebody finally realizes that we aren’t worthy, shouts ‘phony!’ and takes everything away.”
