Watch: The first gore-filled trailer for ‘Mortal Kombat’ brings the game to life

The film drops on April 16, 2021

The first trailer for the rebooted Mortal Kombat is here, and it looks like it’s going to be packed with blood and violence, just like the game.

The forthcoming flick is set to star Lewis Tan as MMA fighter Cole Young, who is recruited to fight in the legendary tournament, Mortal Kombat. Opening with shots of Young discussing a dragon-shaped birthmark he’s weirdly chill about, we hear someone say, “It’s not a birthmark, Cole,” before the trailer launches into its wildly gory scenes.

Packed with epic fights and gut-busting battle scenes, the gory clip gives fans a first-look at the new live-action versions of favourite characters like Sonya, Kano, Raiden, Jax, Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, Kang Lao, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion.

Mortal Kombat will be released in theatres and on HBO Max on April 16th, 2021.
