Netflix has officially announced they’ll be creating an animated series based on books by Roald Dahl.
Many of Dahl’s works have been adapted in the past, but the streaming series has decided to team up with the Roald Dahl Story Company to once again animate characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits, and many others. Instead of a traditional adaptation, the books will be turned into a “story universe” that connects the stories throughout the series.

“Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories,” Felicity Dahl explained in a statement. “This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company.”
Production for the series will start in 2019.
