Watch: The Flaming Lips unveil video for live rendition of ‘What Is the Light?’

Their full live album is set for release on Record Store Day Black Friday

While gearing up for the release of The Soft Bulletin Recorded Live at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Flaming Lips have unveiled a video for the live rendition of “What Is the Light?.”

The track was recorded live at Red Rocks, and it sees the Flaming Lips backed by an entire orchestra and vocal choir. “Like a lot of things in life as soon as it’s over it’s wonderful but when you’re in the middle of it, it’s…a disaster,” frontman Wayne Coyne explains to Billboard. “There’s just too many things going on to enjoy it when it’s happening – the rehearsals and the planning and then everything that comes along with recording it.”

The trippy live video comes with a screen split into quadrants, and it recolours the band’s rowdy live performance into kaleidoscopic panels of colour.
