The Hold Steady took to NPR Tiny Desk to deliver an intimate performance from home.
The indie outfit took to a backstage corner of the Brooklyn Bowl wearing masks, standing in front of some string lights as they performed four Open Door Policy tracks. The Hold Steady kicked it off with “Heavy Covenant,” as the track swelled with clarinets and trumpets for a powerful rendition of the tune.
In addition to “Heavy Covenant,” The Hold Steady also performed “Unpleasant Breakfast,” “Riptown,” and “Parade Days,” making for a captivating performance despite the lack of audience. “Unusual times, unusual measures,” frontman Craig Finn explains in the clip.
