This weekend The National did their Canadian fans a solid, playing two new songs live over the course of the weekend at a Syrian Benefit Show in Hamilton Friday night, and their headlining set at Field Trip Saturday night.
At their Friday night showcase at The New Vision United Church, the band unveiled two new tracks “Sometimes I Don’t Think” and “The Day I Die”. Both tracks were performed the following night at Fort York Garrison Commons in Toronto during their headlining Field Trip set.
The National are currently promoting their new collaborative Grateful Dead tribute album Day of the Dead. Matt Berninger recently revealed that the band is working on a follow-up album to 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me, of which he says are a collection so far of “very fucking amazing songs.”
