Based on the novel by Canadian author Iain Reid

Charlie Kaufman returns with a new film, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, based on the novel of the same name from Canadian author Iain Reid. The film, written and directed by Kaufman, arrives on Netflix September 4.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things is a creepy psychological thriller that features Jessie Buckley, Jesse Plemons, Toni Collette, and David Thewlis. On the surface, it’s an innocent tale of a young woman who takes a trip to meet her boyfriend’s parents, but something much deeper is at work as the story begins to unravel.

Check out the trailer below.

“Despite second thoughts about their relationship, a young woman (Jessie Buckley) takes a road trip with her new boyfriend (Jesse Plemons) to his family farm,” a description of the film reads. “Trapped at the farm during a snowstorm with Jake’s mother (Toni Collette) and father (David Thewlis), the young woman begins to question the nature of everything she knew or understood about her boyfriend, herself, and the world.”
