Watch: The Who debut two new tracks at London club

'Break the News' and 'She Rocked My World' both come off their LP 'Who'

The Who performed two intimate acoustic shows at the PRYZM nightclub in London, which kicked off their 2020 tour.

Each gig had about eight songs, where the band performed “Substitute,” “Pinball Wizard,” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” In addition, they performed “Break the News” and “She Rocked My World” tracks from their new LP, Who, for the first time. The band played at PRYZM once more on Friday night, which marked the 50th anniversary of their landmark Live at Leeds show at Leeds University.

Frontman Roger Daltry was unfamiliar with “Break the News,” as it was written by Pete Townshend’s brother Simon, so Daltry had to read the lyrics on a manuscript. “I’m in the first stages of the dreaded late-seventies, and the memory ain’t what it was,” Daltry explained. “I’ve never sung this song before live. I might have to read it.… Simon is such a great songwriter. For years he’s done his songs at my solo shows, but it’s great to find a song that actually fits on a Who album. It fits really well. Let’s try it.”
