Watch This Nearly $100K Tesla Spontaneously Combust

Uh, who killed this electric car?

The electric car may be indeed be the future, but growing concerns over the safety of Tesla’s manufacturing practices may be just. Over the weekend, a Tesla S belonging to the husband of West Wing star Mary McCormack burst into flames while on a Los Angeles street.

McCormack took to Twitter to detail the incident, complete with video.

“No accident, out of the blue, in traffic on Santa Monica Blvd,” McCormack tweeted. “Thank you to the kind couple who flagged him down and told him to pull over. And thank god my three little girls weren’t in the car with him.”

Tesla, Inc., came under scrutiny earlier this year from Californian safety regulators amid undisclosed reports of injuries to workers at its factory in Fremont, California.

A Tesla S model costs about $96,650 USD. Tesla launched in 2003. Elon Musk is a co-founder, CEO, and product architect with the company.
