Thom Yorke has been featured in a new interview with Zane Lowe, which aired on Apple Music’s Beats I radio today, where he discussed the making of his forthcoming album, ANIMA.
In the clip, Yorke explains that he’s had the material featured on ANIMA completed “for ages,” and so he was able to record the album alongside producer and collaborator Nigel Godrich quite quickly. “We set up as we do the live shows for most of it, and knocked it out,” Yorke explained. “It was really fun. It was quick and easy and we knew where we were going because we lived with it for so long. The therapy of ‘I don’t want to write a bunch of songs. I want to just make noise’ was great and I found myself immersing myself in old musique concrète and all this anti-music.”
In addition to the upcoming record, Yorke discussed everything from the current political landscape to the importance of a good night’s sleep.
