Toronto’s Wild Black has shared a video for her new single “Moon, Star, Lover.”

“I wrote ‘Moon, Star, Lover’ during a time of serious transition and I wanted to transform my journey and the honesty I was ready to express into something beautiful and fun that celebrates and focus on queer femme and non-binary folks of colour,” Wild Black explains in a statement. “Something that reflects who we are and the people we want to see more of in this industry. Coming out is one of the hardest things that someone can do for many different reasons. For me it created some inner conflict and tension, especially as the daughter of a Muslim Ethiopian immigrant.”

The Lulu Wei-directed video looks to subvert the concept of summer camp, creating a camp that is diverse and celebrates each of the attendees’ uniqueness and queerness to “reflect the camp we would’ve wanted to attend,” Wei explains.
