Pop punk outfit Wavves have made their return with a video for their first new single since 2017, “Sinking Feeling.”
The new track was made with the help of TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, and it comes packed with some surf rock instrumentals. While the track has an upbeat energy, it comes packed with more serious lyrics, as frontman Nathan Williams sings about depression, delivering lines like, “It’s there on your face/ It sits in your mind/ It’s like this all the time.”
“‘Sinking Feeling’ is a song about a wave of depression that keeps coming back,” Williams explains. “It’s that sinking feeling that drags you down and no matter what you do or where you go it follows you.”

According to a press release, the new track is “a first taste of a forthcoming release.”
