Watch: Weezer release video for new track ‘Hero,’ partner with Postmates to support healthcare workers

Weezer have shared a video for their new track “Hero” from their forthcoming album Van Weezer, which has had its May 15th release date pushed back.

The new track is a quintessential Weezer anthem, packed with pop-punk guitar riffs as frontman Rivers Cuomo sings about people struggling to fit in, delivering lines like, “Everybody needs a hero but I’m not everybody else/ I walk alone, yeah, I walk alone.” The accompanying clip sees band members sharing a hand-written letter to everyone from healthcare workers to at-home yoga goers, inspiring them to keep going during these trying times.

Weezer has also partnered with Postmates to honour the true heroes, and show their support for healthcare workers caring for people affected by the spread of COVID-19. As a result, nurses at LA’s Good Samaritan Hospital will get meals from Uncle Pauli’s Deli during their breaks thanks to Weezer, Postmates, and Feed Hero Nurses.

“Your bravery and selflessness are awe-inspiring,” the note in the video reads. “You are the reason we shall rack another day. Life is good, and for all of this, we thank you.”
