While on a stopover in Saskatoon for their Leave No Bridge Unburned album tour, Canadian folk rockers Whitehorse performed their rendition of Neil Young’s soulful ballad “Helpless.”
The husband and wife duo — composed of Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland — teamed up with brother and sister musicians Noah and Abby Gundersen to record the song from the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album Déja Vu.
The musicians wanted to commemorate their Prairie tour, and felt “Helpless” fit in with the theme. As it turns out, they also have a personal connection to the Canadian icon: Luke Doucet and Neil Young went to the same high school.
Whitehorse will be in Niagara-on-the-Lake July 11th.
