Founding member of Arcade Fire Will Butler has left the band.
Taking to social media on March 19th, Will Butler (frontman Win Butler’s brother), says that he “left at the end of last year, after the new record was complete.” That means that Butler has quit after a whopping two decades.
“Hi friends–I’ve left Arcade Fire,” Will Butler wrote. “I left at the end of last year, after the new record was complete. There was no acute reason beyond that I’ve changed–and the band has changed–over the last almost 20 years. Time for new things.”
