Take time away from shopping, thinking about shopping, and recovering from shopping, with a break from the bustle, and a trip into the fantastic world of theatre. Whether you like to laugh, gasp, or cry, there is something for everyone this season on stages all over the city.
You’re going to have to hustle if you want to catch this one. A&R Angels wraps its run at Crow’s Theatre on December 9th, and while those final dates are sold out, this is the season of perpetual hope, and there are some tickets available, here. Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene wrote, and stars in this rock-fable alongside Ben Kowalewicz of Billy Talent.
SCENES FROM THE CITY
What does winter in Toronto look like, sound like, and feel like to you? For the month of December, every Friday, Bad Dog Theatre presents Scenes From the City, a unique improv show that reimagines an audience-favourite local winter haunt, then weaves together spontaneous storylines that lean into our collective love/hate relationship with the city (and each other) as the holidays approach.
LUMP OF COAL
If you’re a fan of Rupaul’s Drag Race, and / or your eyes roll into the back of your head when you think about having to listen to another sappy Christmas carol, THIS IS YOUR GIG. Courtney Act presents Lump of Coal at Buddies in Bad Times on Tuesday, December 12th.
The Nutcracker, put on by the National Ballet of Canada is one of the best ways to kick the ‘ol Scrooge mood. It’s a classic Christmas tale, and a breathtaking feast for the eyes and ears. The Nutcracker runs from December 9-30.
THE NEXT STAGE FESTIVAL
