Yeasayer are suing Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd over ‘Pray For Me’

After announcing their break back in December

Yeasayer are reportedly suing Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd over their Black Panther collaboration, “Pray For Me.”

The Brooklyn trio, which split at the end of last year, are accusing Lamar and The Weeknd of infringing their copyright, according to TMZ. The case claims that the track is too similar to Yeasayer’s tune, “Sunrise.”

According to documents from Pitchfork, the band accuses the pair of musicians of lifting the “distinctive choral performance” from “Sunrise,” which they say is “male voices singing in their highest registers, with animated, pulsing vibrato.” Neither Lamar nor The Weeknd have responded.
