It’s time for Your First Listen, where we show you songs you need to discover this week!

This Indie88 feature is presented with Bay Bloor Radio.

Each week we feature five remarkable songs that you need to hear on Your First Listen on air. In case you miss them on air, you can catch up on the weekly tracks right here. Your First Listen airs every day in Indie88 beginning at 10 a.m.

Online, we expand the list with a couple more tunes. This week, we’ve got new tracks from Florence + The Machine, Foo Fighters, Half Moon Run, and more.

Foo Fighters – “Rescued”

Foo Fighters announced their first album since the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins last year. The album is titled But Here We Are, and the band has shared its opening track “Rescued.”

Florence + The Machine – “Mermaids”

Florence Welch teased that her “mermaid” era was on the way, and she has delivered on that with the arrival of a brand new song titled “Mermaids.”

MUNA – “One That Got Away”

Indie-pop trio MUNA performed a new song titled “One That Got Away” during their Coachella set last weekend. A video for the track, their first new music since their 2022 self-titled debut LP, arrived earlier this week.

Arlo Parks – “Blades”

Arlo Parks is set to release My Soft Machine, the follow-up to her award-winning debut Collapsed In Sunbeams, on May 26. The singer shared a third single, “Blades,” from the forthcoming LP this week.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – “Council Skies”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will deliver a new record on June 2nd, and after sharing a handful of track from the upcoming release the British singer-songwriter has unveiled the title track.

Half Moon Run – “Alco”

Half Moon Run announced their next full-length album, ,Salt is set for release on June 2, 2023 on the band’s new record label, BMG. The announcement was accompanied by the release of another new single, “Alco.”

Bloc Party – “High Life”

Bloc Party returned last year following a six-year hiatus with Alpha Games, and frontman Kele Okereke followed that up with a solo record… and now we have yet more new music from the Bloc Party camp with the arrival of “High Life.”

NIA NADURATA – “drive faster”

New Arts & Crafts signee NIA NADURATA shared her debut single “drive faster” this week, an acoustic-driven ballad that showcases the singer-songwriter’s lush vocal abilities. The Toronto-based 22-year-old artist is the latest find from Etobicoke School of The Arts pipeline.

St. Paul & The Broken Bones – “Oporto-Madrid Blvd”

St. Paul & The Broken Bones released their new album Angels in Science Fiction today, and shared one last advance single “Oporto-Madrid Blvd,” earlier this week.

iskwē – “I Get High” ft. Nina Hagen

iskwē has unveiled a new track “I Get High” ft. Nina Hagen, which she wrote and recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Damian Taylor.
