The Weeknd has returned with a new single called “Take My Breath” alongside a Cliqua-directed video. “Take My Breath” sees The Weeknd leaning in to his ever-evolving sound. Marking his latest material since the release of After Hours, “Take My Breath” sees The Weeknd cementing his unique form of story-telling and captivating visuals.
Machine Gun Kelly – “papercuts”
Machine Gun Kelly is back with the release of “papercuts” alongside a Cole Bennett-directed video. “Papercuts” marks she first single from his forthcoming album, Born With Horns, which does not yet have a release date. The accompanying video is perfectly peculiar, as Machine Gun Kelly embarks on a pretty strange ride in the fast lane.
Jackie – “Filter”
Toronto band jackie have shared an evocative video for their new track “Filter.” “I always get a special feeling from hearing this song,” frontwoman Jackie Mohr explains. “I love when I write something htat’s not about love, or loss, or pain because that’s often what I think about when writing, but ‘Filter’ instead just has this cool wave of good vibes. The line, ‘I forgot to shake it off, to take a break for heaven’s sake’ rolls around my head at least once a day now.”
Finneas – “A Concert Six Months From Now”
Now that Billie Eilish has released her album Happier Than Ever, her brother/producer Finneas is beginning to release his own album. Finneas’ debut full-length Optimist is out in October, and he recently shared the album opener. “A Concert Six Months From Now” is an acoustic-led power ballad about a decade-long on-and-off romance.
Texas King – “Not Myself”
London, Ontario rockers Texas King are readying the release of a new EP, out in December of 2021. Recently they previewed the collection with a new single called “Not Myself.” “Sometimes you have a bad day, sometimes you have 30 in a row,” frontman Jordan MacDonald explains. “This song is an alert. Everything is not ok. I’ve not been feeling myself. It’s the first step in the process of change. Which is admitting that there’s something that needs to change. I’m sure you can relate.”
