Your First Listen: Week of June 5th

Each week we feature five remarkable songs you need to hear on Your First Listen. In case you miss them on air, you can catch up on the weekly tracks right here.

Arcade Fire – Everything Now

Arcade Fire announced their new album, Everything Now, will be out July 28th. The first taste is the title track, “everything Now”, and if you`re feeling the disco vibes, it could be because it was co-produced by Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter. Get ready to dance to this live in November when they headline the ACC!

Lorde – Perfect Places

After teasing us with two great tracks, Lorde has delivered yet again. She worked on with Jack Antonoff on her upcoming release Melodrama, and you can hear his production fingerprints all over this one. Let this tide you over until the album comes out June 16th, the latest from Lorde is “Perfect Places.”

Liam Gallagher – Wall of Glass

We won’t get an Oasis reunion while the Gallagher brothers keep fighting BUT it does mean more music from Noel and Liam solo and via sideprojects. Liam Gallagher’s first proper solo record, As You Were, comes out in October, and let’s see how he sounds on his own.

Alvvays – In Undertow

Alvvays delivered the song of the summer in 2014 (and maybe even 2015, too!) and I’m pretty sure this gorgeous gem could make the cut for this summer. Dreamy vocals, hazy guitars –it’s the Alvvays you love, plus this one features Norman Blake from Teenage Fanclub! Their new album will be out September 8th called Antisocialites and expect quite a party to celebrate in the fall!

War On Drugs – Holding On

The War on Drugs will release their fourth album A Deeper Understanding, on August 25th. They’re calling it a “band record,” and it sounds just like the War on Drugs you know and love, and have been waiting for!
