Each week we feature five remarkable songs you need to hear on Your First Listen. In case you miss them on air, you can catch up on the weekly tracks right here.

Your First Listen airs weekdays at 12:45 p.m., 5:45 p.m., and 8:45 p.m.

Sir Sly – “&Run”

It’s been a good year for LA indie pop trio Sir Sly, and if you’re a soccer fan, just know this one has also made the soundtrack for FIFA 18.

Bishop Briggs – “Dream”

She’s a powerhouse vocalist who got her start being very mysterious online. By now, with her hit “River” taking over the airwaves you likely know a lot about Bishop Briggs (whose real name is Sarah McLaughlin by the way.) Her latest “Dream” is all about pining for a dream to be real.

JD McPherson – “Lucky Penny”

Though JD McPherson is from Oklahoma and now calls Nashville home, he got inspired to write this one while jamming in the California desert with Josh Homme of the Queens Of The Stone Age, here’s the result “Lucky Penny”

RHYE – “Taste”

It’s been about 5 years since Rhye’s debut, they’ll be hitting the road in February which hopefully means a new album by then. According to Milosh, the new music is inspired by time on the road. This one is a solid groovy driving tune indeed. Be sure to see them March 5th at Massey Hall!

Portugal. The Man – “Live In The Moment”

Alaska-born rock n rollers Portugal. The Man made you sing falsetto all year with “Feel It Still,” but they aren’t a one hit wonder! Here’s another solid track from Woodstock, and if you have the chance check out the video, who knew a high-speed chase with giant puppets strapped to cars could be so awesome?
