Your First Listen (week of Oct. 13)

5 remarkable tracks you need to hear

Each week we feature five remarkable songs you need to hear on Your First Listen. In case you miss them on air, you can catch up on the weekly tracks right here. Your First Listen airs weekdays at 12:45pm, 5:45pm, and 8:45pm.

Hozier – “From Eden”

This Irish singer-songwriter is on the rise – you might know him from his song “Take Me To Church”. This track is a little less intense, a little less dramatic, and a little more lighthearted – but his exceptional voice is still front and centre. His debut self-titled album came out earlier this month – you’ll find this on it – it’s called “From Eden” on YOUR FIRST LISTEN.

Zhu – “Faded”

Who Is Zhu? That’s the big question. No one knows anything about this artist. He (or she) is shrouded in mystery. Twitter, Facebook – it’s all empty. Rumour has it that their real name MIGHT be Steven? Maybe? thats all we got. Either way, enjoy Zhu’s “Faded” on YOUR FIRST LISTEN.

Milky Chance – “Flashed Junk Mind”

German duo Milky Chance are visiting Toronto this week in support of their new album Sadnecessary – which just got its Canadian release. You already know their laid-back, catchy first single “Stolen Dance”, so get ready to be hooked on this new one. Equally chilled out, this is “Flashed Junk Mind” from Milky Chance on YOUR FIRST LISTEN.

Cold War Kids – “All This Could Be Yours”

California’s Cold War Kids are back this month with a new album. It’ll be their fifth – and this is the first song out from it to get you pumped up. It’s a pumped up, unstoppable jam…it’s called “All This Could Be Yours” by Cold War Kids on YOUR FIRST LISTEN.

TV On The Radio – “Happy Idiot”

New York’s TV On The Radio has a new album coming November 18 – their fifth full length record, their first in three years, and in their own words, it’s “1000%, without a doubt, the best thing we’ve ever done.” It’s called Seeds and this is the first single for you – “Happy Idiot” from TV On The Radio on YOUR FIRST LISTEN.
