Kooks – Bad Habit
In Septmber, British rockers the Kooks released their fourth album (and their first in three years), and the way they recorded it is different than how they made their previous ones — they didnt’ do any rehearsing before recording it. Frontman Luke Pritchard would write a song, and then… they’d just all play it. He says the album is about pure expression. Wanna hear how it turned out? Check out “Bad Habit” above.
Elliot Brood – Jigsaw Heart
First things first: there is no person named Elliot Brood. Elliot brood is a three-piece band from right here in Toronto. They’ve been making music for over a decade, and they’ve opened for everyone including Wilco, War on Drugs, Blue Rodeo – and Work and Love.
Airborne Toxic Event – Wrong
LA rock band Airborne Toxic Event are gearing up for their fourth album — and they’ve been playing the first single “Wrong” at a whole bunch of live shows lately. They played the Danforth earlier this month but if you missed it, you can hear “Wrong” right here, right now.
Mother Mother – Monkey Tree
You may agree that Mother Mother are one of the weirdest bands in Canada. They’re definitely one of the most unique sounding. And the quirky threesome is back with a new album called Very Good Bad Thing on November 4th. Here’s the second tune you’re hearing from it, “Monkey Tree”.
Young Guns – I Want Out
Young guns came all the way over from the UK to play the Phoenix earlier in October. They’re getting lots of love overseas for their album Bones and now it’s Toronto’s turn to rock out.
