Weezer – “Happy Hour”
Weezer said it themselves, they’re good at creating songs with “a sad message wrapped in a sunny package.” Add this one to the list, a track they call a companion to 2001’s Island in the Sun, and the final teaser track before they release Pacific Daydream Oct 27th.
The Sheepdogs – “I’ve Got A Hole Where My Heart Should Be”
Excellent Toronto-via-Saskatoon rockers, The Sheepdogs, have a new album, Changing Colours coming out February 2nd, and they teased it with the best parody of a Time Life album commercial ever (and yes, if you preorder you do get the colour changing mug!) To tide you over, another great rock ‘n’ roll gem from the Sheepdogs!
Destroyer – “Tinseltown Swimming in Blood”
Dan Bejar is known as a former longtime member of the New Pornographers, but also his project Destroyer has been a cult favourite for well over a decade. The latest album ken came out October 20 and this one has such a Joy Division meets Pet Shop Boys vibe “Tinseltown Swimming in Blood.”
AJR feat. Rivers Cuomo – “Sober Up”
Sibling trio AJR grew up loving Weezer, so when they noticed Rivers Cuomo followed one member on Twitter they decided to DM him just for fun. The result: an instant invitation to collaborate! And this is the result: “Sober Up.”
U.S. GIRLS – “Mad As Hell”
Excellent local artist U.S. Girls is the project of Meghan Remy who you should check out live this Halloween weekend playing two shows at The Tranzac (October 27th and 28th!) Here’s the latest from U.S. Girls “Anti War Song.”
