There’s a new app in town that could be saving you from pricey cellphone bills.

Fongo is a free mobile app that provides voicemail, call display and no charge for cross-Canada phone calls. All you really need is a cellphone and internet access (wifi or data).

Fongo users can also use long-distance calling for cheap, pay $1.99 a month for texting, and transfer their current number to Fongo for a one-time fee of $25.

Greg Dalton, President of Fongo, told CBC that there is no catch and the app is 100% legal.
